Who can enter?
The awards distinguish between the different organization types, as well as traveling consumers.
Public Sector – Organizations that promote travel and tourism in Canada whether at a global, national, regional, or local/municipal level. These include:
- 1. Federal departments and agencies that have a direct or indirect interest in tourism and/or have policy or programming to impact/support tourism industry development. (e.g. CTC, Parks Canada, INAC, Industry Canada, DFAIT)
- 2. Provincial ministries or departments that have a direct or indirect interest in tourism and/or have policy or programming to support industry initiatives. (eg.13 provincial/territorial tourism agencies across Canada).
- 3. City convention and visitors bureaus, regional travel associations, tourism industry/industry related associations, sector associations that member-based and non-profit organizations that may or may not be supported financially by federal/provincial and/or municipal governments (eg. Tourism Edmonton, Vancouver Island Travel Association, Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia, Leading Spas of Canada)
Private Sector - Large Enterprises, 100 employees or larger, that are outside of government, and include a variety of for-profit entities such as private limited companies, partnerships, corporations, as well as individuals not employed by the government, whose primary business is providing travel experiences and/or visitor services.
Private Sector - Small-Medium Enterprises (or SMEs) are companies in the travel and tourism industry that are for profit and whose headcount falls less than 100 employees, whose primary business is providing travel experiences and/or visitor services.
Travellers – world-wide travellers, submitting links to their stories, pictures, or videos of their travel experiences in Canada.
